Beta Analytic Joins 2011 GSA Annual Meeting to Promote Faster Services

ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited radiocarbon dating lab Beta Analytic will be exhibiting at the Geological Society of America’s 123rd Annual Meeting and Exposition in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Beta Analytic Deputy Director and Technical Manager Chris Patrick will be available at Booth 718 from October 9 to October 12, 2011, to talk about the lab’s faster turnaround times and enhanced results archive.

“We are excited to share with our clients and other GSA meeting participants the latest update in our radiocarbon dating lab’s services. We’ve further improved the turnaround time of our AMS dating standard service from 30 business days to 14 business days. We still have expedited services available at 2-6 business days. We’ve also improved the online archive of our clients’ results. They now have more data including images of the samples they sent at different stages of the analysis,” Mr. Patrick says.

Held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, the 2011 GSA Annual Meeting will include eight Pardee Keynote symposia, five special sessions, and 217 topical sessions. The annual meeting currently has 29 general discipline session categories with petroleum as the latest addition. This year’s theme is “Archean to Anthropocene, the past is the key to the future.”

Beta Analytic supports the geoscience community by providing fast, high-quality radiocarbon dating services for its researches. Through these conferences, the lab is able to inform the geoscience community that it can get its radiocarbon dating results in a matter of days instead of months.

Improved Radiocarbon Dating Services

Beta Analytic has proven to be one of the most consistently fast radiocarbon dating labs around the world. Its standard AMS service delivery time is now at 14 business days from receipt of sample. Faster services are also available – Priority (results in 6 business days or less) and Time Guide (results in 2-3 business days).

Beta Analytic clients have an online archive of their results accessible 24/7. Their results already include Carbon-13/Carbon-12 measurements, calendar calibration (when applicable), and a quality assurance report, which provides supporting validation for their results. This report documents ISO/IEC 17025:2017-accredited concurrence between expected and measured values for reference standards analyzed quasi-simultaneously with the samples.

A newly added feature in the client’s online archive is the sample images. Clients can now view which portion of their samples have been pretreated and analyzed.

To better serve its clients, Beta Analytic has set up sample forwarding offices in key cities around the world including London, UK; Sydney, Australia; Beijing, China and Nagoya, Japan. Packages sent to these forwarding facilities are sent to Miami via overnight courier services at Beta Analytic’s expense.
