Beta Analytic Exhibits at 2022 ACRA Annual Meeting

ISO 17025-accredited Beta Analytic joined the 2022 annual meeting of the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA) in San Antonio, Texas. From September 22-24, 2022, Beta Analytic President Ron Hatfield and VP for Business Development and Strategy Florencia Goren responded to all inquiries about radiocarbon dating and stable isotope analysis.

Beta Analytic was this year’s welcome reception sponsor. As a long-time ACRA supporter, the radiocarbon dating laboratory also enjoys various benefits including an exhibit table at the event.

The theme to ACRA’s 2022 meeting was “CRM: Bridging Agencies, Industries, and the Community”. The ACRA awards were presented to Souder Miller & Associates for the Navajo Gallup Water Supply Project and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Program.

Beta Analytic will join ACRA’s 29th annual conference to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 7-10, 2023.

ACRA is a national trade association that supports and promotes the common interests of various cultural resource management (CRM) firms. Its member firms undertake legally mandated CRM studies and investigations in the United States.

ACRA describes cultural resource management as a process which strives to ensure that progress co-exists with the protection of important historic and cultural heritage assets. According to the association, CRM ensures that important knowledge is gained, that damage to scarce cultural resources are avoided as much as possible, and that cultural resources are preserved, managed, and presented for the public’s benefit.

Webinar Collaborations

Beta Analytic’s first webinar collaboration with ACRA was focused on the basics of radiocarbon dating. The second webinar featured “Bones: Isotopes in Dating, Diets and Migration Studies.” These webinars are available on demand for a fee at the ACRA website.

Presenter of both webinars is Maren Pauly, PhD, Beta Analytic’s Scientific Associate. Dr. Pauly is a paleoclimatologist who completed her PhD at the Freie Universität Berlin. Her research experience includes reconstructing climate from modern corals and sub-fossil tree-rings as well as Late Glacial radiocarbon calibration.
